Starting as an Event Guard, Matt’s natural fit with Eclipse’s mission quickly became evident, eventually earning him a full-time role in Sales and Market Development. His journey with Eclipse is a testament to adaptability, perseverance, and the value of strong relationships in a niche industry.

From Part-Time Guard to Market Development

Before joining Eclipse full-time, Matt spent years working in security and logistics. While picking up shifts with Eclipse as an Event Guard, he was laid off from his logistics role, a moment that unexpectedly opened the door to a new chapter. When he learned of a full-time opening on the sales team, he jumped at the opportunity.

“I’ve been in the Market Development role ever since,” he shares. It’s a role that demands communication, persistence, and the ability to open doors in an industry built on trust.

Strengthening Partnerships, Expanding Reach

As Branch Manager, Matt focuses on building and deepening relationships with clients across Eclipse’s network. His day-to-day includes checking in with current partners, identifying new prospects, and navigating the often tightly woven world of the security industry.

“It’s a challenge to find the right contact and build that relationship,” Matt explains. “Security is such a small, specialized field. But once you connect with the right people and show them the value Eclipse brings, those relationships stick.”

Taking Ownership, Delivering Results

Matt’s impact became quickly evident during one of Indiana’s largest annual events. When Eclipse was facing operational challenges managing an entrance gate at the Indiana State Fair, Matt stepped in and took over.

“After we made adjustments, we received several compliments on how well it was run and managed,” he says. His attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to lead under pressure turned a pain point into a success story.

Leading Through Respect

For Matt, leadership starts with how you treat people. He’s built his approach on the foundation of mutual respect and open communication.

“I respect who I work with, and the guards under my command,” he shares. “When people feel respected, they naturally give that respect back. It sets the tone for how the whole team operates.”

This mindset not only improves morale, it creates a culture where people take pride in their work and are empowered to perform at their best.

Transitioning into a new industry focus wasn’t without its hurdles. For Matt, stepping into the sales side of security meant learning the business from a fresh perspective. But support from his team made a big difference.

“I’ve had to learn a lot, but I know I have my team behind me,” he says. “That support makes it easier to keep learning and moving forward.”

Matt encourages others to lead in a way that’s authentic to who they are. “Find a style that fits your personality,” he advises. “The most important leadership traits are honesty, communication, time management, and respect.”
