For Lorisa Lydick, Operations Supervisor at Eclipse Staffing & Security, event operations is more than just logistics. It’s an opportunity to serve, lead, and guide every detail behind the scenes. With a background in community service and a passion for coordination, Lorisa found a natural fit in the world of event staffing.
Her journey with Eclipse began as a personal and professional turning point. Today, she plays a critical role in one of Indianapolis’s most high-profile venues: Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
From Community Service to Event Leadership
When Lorisa joined Eclipse, she was ready to take on a challenge that aligned with her values and skills.
“When I came to Eclipse, I was looking for an opportunity to explore my skill set within a business structure that encourages me to grow as a person,” she shares. “It was through my work in community service that I first discovered a strong interest in the event world. I had volunteered and helped run numerous events in our community, and the joy I took in that led me to believe that this would be an environment I would thrive in.”
Coordinating Large-Scale Operations
At Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where events regularly host over 17,000 guests, Lorisa plays a vital role in preparation and execution.
“Maintaining a strong staff is essential to the function and success of our events,” she explains. “By maintaining a positive work environment for my team, encouraging standards of excellence at all times, and being a support to them as they need, we’re always positioned to perform at a high level.”
Lorisa’s team manages pre-event setup, ongoing maintenance, and post-event cleanup of all common areas such as restrooms, floors, tables, and trash. But their responsibilities may extend beyond the job description, especially during high-pressure moments when flexibility is key. “Due to our high visibility, radio access, and familiarity in the building, we are often grabbed to assist in medical issues and security.”
Proud Moments on a National Stage
“To date, my most memorable experience was the NBA All-Star Weekend. This event was an entire city-wide event focused on Gainbridge Fieldhouse. My team put in long, hard hours that included very short turnarounds,” she shares. “There were many unexpected obstacles for everyone involved, but we navigated them with ease as a team.”
The recognition was immediate. “We received numerous compliments from the venue, publicly on our radios, as well as from TV stations that were in the building. In a news article, TNT commented that Gainbridge did a great job getting them switched over between events, which were logistics carried out by our team. I, Courtney Kinman, and a couple of others assisted in that process.”
The result? A nationally ranked event that led to new contracts, jobs, and opportunities for Eclipse in Indianapolis.
Setting the Stage for What’s Next
With the WNBA All-Star Game approaching, Lorisa is excited to continue building on that momentum.
“I hope that WNBA All-Stars will be our most successful operation yet in the sense that the WNBA has been reaching new heights at every turn,” she says. “I am also extremely excited that Good Morning America will be filming on-site and that we can be a supporting factor for their broadcast.”
Building Relationships That Drive Results
In her operations role, Lorisa emphasizes listening and adaptability.
“My approach to working with my partner vendors is to take my time getting to know them and their unique needs,” she explains. “While I know myself and the Eclipse team have vast experience, my job is to bring that experience together with the venue’s needs.”
She also sees Eclipse’s flexibility as a core strength. “Our ability to quickly adapt and take on a variety of responsibilities is what sets us apart when supporting our partners.”
Advice for Future Leaders
Lorisa believes leadership starts with service and accountability.
“My advice to aspiring leaders would be to remember that all leaders are in service to others,” she shares. “No one is perfect… try to be forgiving where you can, even to yourself. Always remember, as a leader, accountability is your job.”
She also stresses the importance of resilience. “Burnout is a real risk in leadership, and the only way to stay balanced and present is to make self-care a consistent priority.”
Looking Ahead
With each event, Lorisa continues to elevate Eclipse’s presence through thoughtful preparation, service-first leadership, and a strong commitment to excellence. Whether it’s NBA All-Star Weekend or coordinating daily operations, she remains focused on delivering successful outcomes — one event at a time.
