Meet Mike Rose, Eclipse's VP
A huge part of what makes Eclipse successful is our hardworking team dedicated to creating great experiences for our clients and employees. Today, we’re going to share a little information on one of those team members, Mike, and how he’s made an impact in his time with us.
Mike Rose, Vice President of Eclipse, grew up in Anderson, IN and currently resides in Carmel. A native to the state, Mike attended Indiana University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He then moved on to earn his master’s in education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2003, and just one year later received an Educational Leadership Endorsement by IU.
Early in his career, Mike was teacher and coach in Wayne Township teaching middle school science. Like others in education, he had the summers off, where he eventually picked up a gig as a security guard at the Deer Creek Amphitheater near where he lived. This was his first foray into the events industry and its impact would change the course of his career.
Mike initially became familiar with Eclipse because of his experience with another security company in the Indianapolis area. From there he met owner and founder of Eclipse, Michelle Coy, through a shared contact who worked with one of Mike’s previous employers. It was at this time that they realized they could combine their shared experience and expertise in the security and events industry to bring Eclipse to the next level.
In January 2020, Mike joined Michelle at Eclipse as the Vice President, overseeing everything from operations and training to sales and account management. Because Eclipse is a full facility services supplier, there’s no shortage of tasks for Mike, who provides staff for clients across Indy in a variety of positions. But it’s all worth it; he says, "[It’s so rewarding] being part of an event and seeing people having fun, helping create memories for others. Getting staff to understand that they are part of the overall experience people have at events.
It's not just a job. It's an experience we are creating.”
Michelle, who has worked closely with Mike over the past year, had this to say: “As a previous teacher, Mike has an extraordinary ability to connect with people and is well respected on all levels. He’s an exceptional writer and can write a training manual with execution within 2-3 days; he’s had the privilege to write for some clients. For an example, he wrote the security training manual for the 100th running of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Mike has been in the event security business for over 20 years and started at the bottom as an hourly security guard and learned to perfect his craft. He’s an asset to Eclipse and I look forward to the future of what’s to come.”
Outside of Eclipse, Mike enjoys playing sports, as an “avid disc golfer” and having competed on the bowling team at IU. He loves a good cup of coffee to get him moving in the morning and a nice relaxing evening – maybe with a true crime documentary – to unwind after a long day. Like most people, he’s hopeful that 2021 will bring some normalcy back into our lives and is looking forward to Eclipse being part of the comeback.
Mike is such a vital part of the Eclipse team, and we’re proud to have him on our side. We can’t wait to see what he does in the future and what levels he can help take Eclipse to.
